Carved in the 1950s and 1960s in the workshop of master carver Jakopović, the original Dubrovnik chessmen became famous as Bobby Fischer's favorite design, and originals are now extremely hard to find. This pieces-only reproduction recreates the pattern in bud rosewood and boxwood, with the same broad, chunky bases and added ballast for stability. It is a strong choice for collectors of historic designs and players who already have a board with 2.16 in (55 mm) or larger squares.

Handcrafted by skilled artisans, the bud rosewood gives the dark side a rich reddish tone that contrasts with the light boxwood.

Care

Wipe the pieces gently with a dry, soft cloth. Store them away from direct sunlight and moisture to protect the wood.
